Mayra Flores, a Republican, has been hospitalized, according to a public statement released by her team on Tuesday with a request for prayers and support. The announcement of her campaign to retake her previous seat in Congress came just a few hours after Flores made the announcement.

It was earlier in the day that Flores made her announcement that she would be running for retake of Texas’ 28th Congressional District, which is now held by the controversial Democrat Representative Henry Cuellar, who was convicted in March on federal bribery allegations. Flores is the first woman born in Mexico to serve in Congress.
