Bodies of two iron workers recovered from rubble of Philadelphia parking garage 5 days after partial collapse
The bodies of two iron workers have been recovered from the rubble of a Philadelphia parking garage that partially collapsed on Wednesday, city officials said Monday morning.
The two men, and a third who was pulled from the rubble shortly after the collapse and later died of his injuries, were members of the Ironworkers 401 union and Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker told reporters at a news conference.
“To the men and women of Local 401 and to every member of the Philadelphia Building Trades, let me say this: Philadelphia feels your pain, Philadelphia prays for you, and your city stands with you,” Parker said.
Officials have yet to release the identities of the three men to the public.
MEDIEVAL TOWER’S COLLAPSE TRAPS MAN, LEADS TO 11-HOUR RESCUE MISSION WITH TRAGIC OUTCOME
The parking garage, near 30th Street and Grays Ferry Avenue in South Philadelphia, was under construction at the time of the collapse.
Search and rescue teams pulled one man from the rubble at the time, though he died of his injuries at a hospital later that day. The two others initially remained missing.
The search-and-rescue operation, however, turned into a recovery after search teams determined the two missing individuals had died.
OFFICIALS INVESTIGATING AFTER DEADLY CRANE COLLAPSE IN COMMERCIAL AREA NORTH OF BOSTON
Fire Commissioner Jeffery Thompson said the bodies of the two men were in a stairwell, which he described as a unique architectural feature of the garage.
Technicians and other personnel used various tools to take apart, piece by piece, the area where the bodies were, using shovels, buckets and their own hands, Thompson said, adding that a human remains detection K-9 was also used to find the men.
The chief said crews had to demolish what remained of the parking garage structure to make the site safe enough during the recovery operation.
Parker said a medical examiner was working to determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
The mayor also vowed to get to the bottom of what led to the partial collapse of the parking garage, saying there will be a full, comprehensive and independent investigation.
“We should continue to keep the families and all of the loved ones in prayers,” Parker said. “And we want God to bless the three souls and everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy.”

Jeanine Pirro Uncovers Deadly Plot Against Trump
U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host now serving as a top DOJ official, announced Monday that a woman has been arrested for threatening President Donald Trump.
“Hi everyone, it’s Judge Jeanine. I just wanted to let you know here from the United States Attorney’s Office in D.C. that an individual by the name of Nathalie Rose Jones is now in custody, charged with two federal crimes for knowingly and willfully threatening to take the life of the President of the United States,” Pirro said in a clip she released on social media.
“She did come from New York to Washington, D.C. and she has been threatening and calling for the removal of the president and even worse as she got to D.C. Her threats were on Facebook and Instagram and she continued to call the president a terrorist and was working to have him eliminated. She is now in custody. She will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Make no mistake about that,” Pirro added.
Her office also released a statement on the arrest, which read, “Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in the District of Columbia on Saturday, August 16, and charged in connection with making a series of threats on social media in which she threatened to kill President Trump, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.”
“Jones was charged in a complaint in U.S. District Court with threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, and transmitting in interstate commerce communications containing threats to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another,” the statement continued.
“Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served,” Pirro added in the statement. “We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service Special Agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation.”
According to court documents, between August 2 and August 9, members of the U.S. Secret Service observed that an Instagram user identified as “nath.jones” posted multiple threatening comments about President Donald Trump. The posts called for Trump’s removal, described him as a terrorist, labeled his administration a dictatorship, and accused him of causing unnecessary loss of life during the coronavirus pandemic.
From August 6 to August 15, the same user allegedly continued making threats on Facebook. In an August 6 post directed at the FBI, “Nath.Jones” wrote: “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
On August 14, in a post addressed to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Jones allegedly urged: “please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”
The following day, August 15, the Secret Service conducted a voluntary interview with Jones, during which she called Trump a “terrorist” and a “Nazi.” She allegedly stated that if given the chance, she would kill the president, saying she had a “bladed object” she intended to use to “carry out her mission of killing” him, adding that she sought to “avenge all the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic,” which she blamed on Trump’s administration and vaccination policies, according to the DOJ.
On August 16, Jones participated in a protest march that began at Dupont Circle and circled the White House complex. After the demonstration, agents interviewed her a second time, during which she admitted making threats against Trump in her prior interview but claimed she no longer intended to harm him. Law enforcement then arrested her, and she confirmed ownership of the “Nath Jones” Facebook account and acknowledged posting the threats, according to the DOJ.

Gubernatorial candidate vows to pardon cop convicted of manslaughter in death of fleeing suspect
Bruce Blakeman, New York‘s Republican candidate for governor, has vowed to pardon a former NYPD sergeant convicted of manslaughter in the death of a fleeing suspect, who he knocked off a scooter with a cooler.
He made the announcement at a news briefing outside City Hall in New York City Monday morning.
Sgt. Erik Duran, 38, has been sentenced to three to nine years in prison for manslaughter in the 2023 death of a suspected drug dealer named Eric Duprey, 30.
NYC JUDGE SEEKS TO MAKE EXAMPLE OF OFFICER WHO THREW COOLER AT FLEEING SUSPECT, CAUSING FATAL CRASH
Prosecutors from New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office had requested a five-to 15-year sentence.
Duprey sold drugs to an undercover officer and fled arrest on a motorized scooter before Duran, who was wearing plainclothes at the time, grabbed a bystander’s cooler and threw it at him.
It struck Duprey, who lost control of the scooter. He crashed and died.
“I took this job to save lives,” Duran told the judge at sentencing last week. “I felt terrible once I saw Eric Duprey crash.”
The NYPD sergeant is the first member of the department to be sent to prison for a duty-related death in decades.
Duran’s defense had opted for a bench trial, with no jury, under Bronx Judge Guy Mitchell, an appointee under former Mayor Bill de Blasio, in February.
Mitchell rejected Duran’s argument that the cooler throwing was justified in order to protect other officers from harm by the fleeing suspect and said the sentence would serve as a “general deterrent” for other officers.
“They had enough to investigate and catch him on a different day,” he said of Duran and other officers at the scene. “The distinction is that the deceased will no longer be seen again by his family.”
Vincent Vallelong, the president of the NYPD Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, called the sentence “one of the darkest days in the history of our profession.”
“It wasn’t only Sgt. Duran, a great cop, who was on trial,” he said after sentencing Thursday. “Every law enforcement officer who makes a split second decision in the performance of their duties to protect the public, was also on trial.”
The NYPD fired Duran after his conviction, which he is expected to appeal.
Blakeman, who was commissioner of the New York-New Jersey Port Authority during the 9/11 terror attacks, is currently the county executive in Nassau County, a suburb just east of New York City. He has received President Donald Trump’s endorsement in the race against incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Trump’s meme depicting himself as Jesus Christ draws backlash from allies
President Donald Trump irked Americans on both sides of the aisle on Sunday night by posting an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
The image showed Trump healing a sick man while surrounded by followers and patriotic imagery such as the flag, a bald eagle and the Statue of Liberty. The post came as Trump attacked Pope Leo XIV as “weak on crime,” “terrible for foreign policy” and accused him of “catering to the radical left” in a separate message.
While some interpreted the image as Trump “healing the nation,” and others suggested it was merely intended to troll Pope Leo, it didn’t go over well with some of his own supporters.
OutKick’s Riley Gaines responded, “Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this. Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?”
“Either way, two things are true,” Gaines continued. “1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked.”
RedState writer Bonchie noted, “God doesn’t care about your whataboutism,” and suggested Trump remove the message.
“Guys, some things can’t be excused by turning them into online slap fights because some things have larger implications than online slap fights. Such as blasphemy,” Bonchie wrote. “Trump needs to delete that meme and apologize. It’s that simple.”
POPE WARNS ESCALATING IRAN CONFLICT COULD TIP MIDDLE EAST INTO ‘IRREPARABLE ABYSS’
Journalist Megan Basham added, “He needs to take this down immediately and ask for forgiveness from the American people and then from God,” while OutKick’s Jon Root called the post “blasphemous” and “reprehensible.”
Influencer Mike Cernovich said it “would not be tolerated for any other religion,” while influencer Brilyn Hollyhand said “faith is not a prop.”
“You don’t need to portray yourself as a savior when your record should speak for itself. The same God who saved Trump’s life from that bullet sent His son Jesus to die for our sins. He died for Trump just as much as for you and I,” Hollyhand wrote.
Conservative pundit Carmine Sabia suggested all Christians should be offended by the meme.
“As a Christian, I’m offended by this, and I don’t know how any Christian would not be offended by this. There is only one Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Sabia responded. “Mocking Him is not OK.”
Christian blogger Jackie Chea added, “No matter what Trump meant, the meme’s blasphemous. Doesn’t matter if he was trying to be funny. Not a good joke.”
VATICAN DECLINES TO JOIN TRUMP’S GAZA ‘BOARD OF PEACE,’ CALLS FOR UN LEADERSHIP
Trump’s Truth Social post was also heavily criticized by the left and members of the mainstream media.
“I can’t get over the blasphemous picture Trump put up comparing himself to Jesus Christ. Either he doesn’t know that you’re not supposed to compare yourself to the Lord and Savior, which is a stunning level of ignorance, or he did it on purpose to disrespect and mock people. Wow,” Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur wrote.
NBC News’ Richard Engel pondered whether Trump was joking or if he truly believes he has been “elevated to the level of a prophet.”
Left-wing influencer Harry Sisson suggested Trump was having a “mental health episode,” and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin also called it “blasphemous” on Monday.
At least one person found humor in the situation.
“You guys are all freaking out and my uncle has been posting some version of that Trump as Jesus meme on Facebook since 2016,” writer Bridget Phetasy wrote.
A pro-Trump account said critics were wrongheaded, noting the image was made by another supporter months ago and showed “President Trump carrying out God’s work in healing and restoring our nation.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
