President Donald Trump just put a date on when he believes the war with Iran will effectively be over — and his prediction is directly tied to the November midterm elections.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday before departing for the Republican National Midterm Convention in Dallas, Trump predicted that Tehran will give up almost immediately after Americans cast their ballots on November 3.

“I think the war is going to end immediately after the election,” Trump said before adding that Iran “can’t hold out any longer.”

Trump accused Tehran of deliberately trying to drag the conflict through the midterms in an effort to influence American voters and keep pressure on global energy markets.

But according to the president, Iran is rapidly running out of options.

Trump Says Iran ‘Can’t Hold Out’

Trump pointed to devastating losses suffered by Iran at sea as evidence that the country’s ability to continue fighting is being steadily dismantled.

“We’ve knocked out nine of their ships. I would say that the attacks are caused by us,” Trump told reporters. “You’re going to see a lot more. We’ve taken out about nine of their tankers.”

His comments came amid another dangerous escalation in the conflict.

Iran claimed Wednesday that it had attacked ten ships near the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S. military destroyed five Iranian oil tankers.

The United States said those strikes were retaliation for attempted Iranian missile attacks against an American warship.

Iran also launched ballistic missiles toward a base used by American forces in Jordan.

Jordanian officials said the country’s air defenses intercepted 18 of the 20 missiles, with the remaining two landing in unpopulated areas and causing no reported injuries.

U.S. officials said all American personnel were accounted for.

Oil And Gas Prices Surge As War Escalates

The escalating fight around the Strait of Hormuz is sending shockwaves far beyond the battlefield.

Before the war, roughly one-fifth of the world’s petroleum passed through the strategically vital waterway.

Brent crude climbed above $100 per barrel Wednesday, while the U.S. benchmark reached $95.25.

American motorists are feeling the impact too.

The national average for regular gasoline reached $4.22 per gallon Wednesday, while diesel climbed to $5.94 per gallon.

Trump predicted those prices will begin falling once the election is over and the war comes to an end.

His argument is clear: Iran is attempting to survive long enough to make the conflict — and its economic consequences — a factor in the midterm elections.

Trump doesn’t believe Tehran can keep it up much longer.

Trump Wants ‘Much More Than A Nuclear Deal’

Despite the escalating military campaign, Trump hasn’t completely ruled out negotiations.

But he made clear that simply reaching another nuclear agreement would no longer be enough.

“All they want is a nuclear weapon. And if they had a nuclear weapon, the whole world is in deep trouble,” Trump said.

Asked whether a new nuclear agreement could bring the fighting to an end, Trump raised the stakes.

He said he wanted “much more than a nuclear deal.”

“There’s a lot more than nuclear. We’re going to have nuclear. That’s 99.9, but there’s going to be a lot of other things on the table that wouldn’t have been on the table three months ago,” he continued.

Trump portrayed Tehran as dramatically weaker than it was just months ago following sustained American military and economic pressure.

He said Iran has “very little country left right now.”

And despite leaving open the possibility of talks, Trump suggested Washington isn’t exactly rushing back to the negotiating table.

“A negotiation could possibly happen, but it’s not something we’re looking at,” Trump said.

Trump Puts A Timeline On The War

Vice President JD Vance had previously declined to give Americans a firm timeline for when the conflict might end, saying the administration couldn’t know when Iran would stop attacking ships.

Trump has now gone considerably further.

His prediction puts the end of the war directly after the November 3 midterm elections.

If he’s right, the next several weeks could prove decisive.

Iran is continuing its attacks. The United States is hammering Iranian military and oil assets. Energy prices are surging.

And Trump is publicly betting that Tehran’s ability — and willingness — to keep fighting will collapse once Americans finish voting.

“I think the war is going to end immediately after the election,” Trump said.
