Adam Schiff Facing 30 Years In Prison After Bank Records Leak
According to a source cited by Fox News and described as being provided by the Trump administration, Senator Adam Schiff is reportedly the subject of a criminal investigation related to potential mortgage fraud.
On *The Ingraham Angle*, Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham reported Tuesday night that the source indicated the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland is conducting the investigation, which could potentially lead to charges tied to mortgage fraud.
Fox News further reported that the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) submitted a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, alleging that Schiff falsified bank documents and property records on multiple occasions to obtain more favorable loan terms. The development follows reports that surfaced about a month earlier.
In a 2011 affidavit, Schiff—then serving as a member of Congress—identified a property in Montgomery County, Maryland, as his principal residence.
Schiff also owns a condominium in Burbank, California, which he listed as his primary address as recently as 2023 during his U.S. Senate campaign.
According to Fox News Digital, Schiff’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In May, the director of the FHFA sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche outlining the allegations against Schiff.
Fox News also reported that a memo from Fannie Mae’s financial crimes investigations unit alleged that Schiff engaged in “a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” involving five Fannie Mae-backed loans.
According to the letter, Schiff and his wife purchased a home in Potomac, Maryland, in 2003 for $870,000. They obtained a $610,000, 30-year mortgage backed by Fannie Mae at a 5.625% interest rate, asserting the property would serve as their primary residence.
The letter further states that Schiff and his wife continued to list the Maryland property as their principal residence in refinancing documents filed in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013, while Schiff was representing California in Congress.
Fox News obtained a copy of the 2011 affidavit in which Schiff affirmed the Maryland home as his primary residence.
According to reporting cited by Fox, the property was not designated as a secondary residence until 2020.
Additionally, Schiff reportedly claimed a homeowner’s tax exemption on his Burbank condominium during the same period, asserting it as his primary residence—resulting in an estimated $7,000 reduction in property taxes.
A spokeswoman for Schiff stated in 2023 that “Adam’s primary residence is Burbank, California, and will remain so when he wins the Senate seat.”
The FHFA official concluded that the alleged conduct could constitute violations of federal criminal statutes, including wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, and making false statements to financial institutions.
Schiff “appears to have falsified records in order to receive favorable loan terms, and also appears to have been aware of the financial benefits of a primary residence mortgage when compared to a secondary residence mortgage,” the official wrote.
