Bill Maher denounces those disappointed Trump wasn’t killed at WHCA Dinner, says, ‘You’re not a good person’
“Real Time” host Bill Maher was quick to address the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) Dinner shooting during his Friday show, condemning those who expressed disappointment that President Donald Trump was not killed.
The Washington D.C., shooting, which reportedly targeted Trump administration officials, has intensified concerns over the dangerous repercussions of charged political rhetoric.
“Let’s get the ugly news about the political violence out of the way first,” Maher said during Friday’s episode of his HBO show.
“If you’re one of these people – and there’s many in this country – who watched that and was disappointed the president wasn’t killed… you’re not a good person. Or a smart person.”

The left-leaning comedian did not pull back his criticisms of Trump but argued the president is not as extreme as some critics say.
“Certainly, Trump has often not been good, decent or kind,” Maher said. “But he’s not Hitler!”

Maher, a vocal Trump critic, took a moment to defend the president against Hitler accusations, warning of the fatal risks of such labels.
“This is why I was against this ‘He’s Hitler’ bulls—t,” Maher asserted.
“If you really believe that he is a Hitler McPedophile, then you kind of have to kill him. That’s the mentality they have.”
The comedian went on to warn of the dangers of charged political rhetoric that he argued has normalized into the mainstream.
“I remember when the shoe was on the other foot” and liberals were disturbed about violent rhetoric, he said. “The shoe is on the other foot now. I mean it’s on both feet.”

Maher also denounced individuals who believe Trump’s death would resolve political tensions, arguing that the president’s political failure is already upon him.
“I don’t think you’re a good person, I wouldn’t want to be the person who thinks that way. Also, it’s just not smart,” Maher asserted.
“You think that’s gonna solve the problem?… MAGA’s not gonna die!”
“We tried impeaching, that didn’t work. We tried going to the courts, that didn’t work. The only way this actually works: it’s happening. His popularity is at the lowest level it is, even among his core supporters.”

Raptors star RJ Barrett nails season-saving 3-pointer to force Game 7 against Cavaliers
Clutch doesn’t even begin to describe Toronto Raptors star RJ Barrett’s season-saving shot.
The Raptors, down 3-2 in the series, were trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-109 with 10.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
Barrett inbounded the ball to Scottie Barnes, with the Raptors needing a basket to save their season. Barnes dribbled to the free-throw line and then kicked the ball back to Barrett, who was waiting at the top of the key.

Barrett launched a 3-pointer, a shot that needed to find the back of the net if the Raptors were to force a Game 7 and extend their season. Instead, Barrett found the back of the rim and the ball bounced nearly seven feet off it.
The ball then came down and fell through the net, giving the Raptors a 112-110 lead with 1.2 seconds left. Evan Mobley had a chance to win it for the Cavaliers, but his 3-pointer bounced off the front of the rim as time expired.
Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said he felt like Barrett’s shot was in the air for an eternity.
“It was only half a second, but it felt like an eternity,” Rajakovic said. “I was happy for him, for this team, for this city, that the shot went down.”
Barrett said he knew it had a chance to fall because of where the ball landed on the rim.

“I thought it was still good because it went straight up,” Barrett said. “When it goes straight up, you have a chance.”
Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson had a more succinct reaction to Barrett’s season-saving shot.
“Sometimes the basketball gods aren’t with you,” Atkinson said.
The Cavaliers are now looking to turn the page and win Game 7 at home.
“This is why you fight so hard to get home-court advantage,” Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson said. “We knew this wasn’t going to be easy. This is the playoffs, this is what it’s about. We’ve got to recover and get ready for Sunday’s game.”
“Protect home court,” Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell said. “It doesn’t matter if we lost by 30 or two, protect home court. That’s all you can do.”
For Raptors fans, the friendly bounce was reminiscent of an even bigger playoff basket north of the border: Kawhi Leonard’s four-bounce, buzzer-beating winner against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 of the 2019 Eastern Conference semifinals.
Raptors fans hope they can get another special memory when the team plays the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Illegal immigrant shot by ICE indicted for allegedly ramming agents with car in California
A grand jury indicted a Salvadoran national residing in the U.S. illegally on federal assault charges Thursday after he allegedly rammed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents with his car.
The federal grand jury returned the indictment for Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez on Thursday, levying two charges of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon and one count of destruction of government property, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California announced Friday.
ICE agents shot Hernandez, a suspected gang member, in April after he allegedly refused to comply with law enforcement orders, according to authorities.
Agents, who were dispatched to Patterson, California, specifically to find Hernandez, located him and his vehicle on April 7 and pulled him over.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECTED OF GANG TIES ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY RAMMING ICE OFFICER
“During the stop, Mendoza Hernandez identified himself and an agent informed Mendoza Hernandez that he was being detained and instructed him to step out of the vehicle. Despite repeated requests, Mendoza Hernandez kept his car running and did not comply with agent requests,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Hernandez allegedly drove forward and hit an agent with his vehicle, then “quickly shifted the vehicle in reverse and abruptly accelerated in a rapid backward motion, violently colliding with a law enforcement vehicle in the process,” according to federal prosecutors.
After the collision, Hernandez allegedly floored his vehicle toward two agents. One of them, who was in the direct path of the vehicle, jumped out of the way. Hernandez then drove over the center divider into oncoming traffic, federal prosecutors said.
ICE INVOLVED IN SHOOTING AFTER AGENCY SAYS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT GANG MEMBER TRIED TO RAM OFFICER
“During this incident, and in response to the vehicle’s movements, agents discharged their firearms at the vehicle and hit Mendoza Hernandez several times. Agents rendered medical aid at the scene and Mendoza Hernandez was transported to the hospital,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Law enforcement suspected Hernandez of belonging to the 18th Street Gang. He was also wanted in connection to a murder investigation, Fox News Digital previously reported.
Hernandez’s family disputes the gang ties allegations and asserts he was cleared of connection to the alleged murder, Fox News Digital previously reported.
If convicted of the assault charges, Hernandez faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. If convicted of the destruction charge, Hernandez faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.
Fox News Digital contacted Hernandez’s attorney for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
