Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s ‘Today,’ says it’s ‘good to be home’ as search for mother continues
Savannah Guthrie returned to NBC’s “Today” on Monday after a two-month absence as the search for her missing mother continues.
“Good morning, welcome to ‘Today’ on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it is good to be home,” Guthrie told viewers.
“Here we go, ready or not, let’s do the news,” she added, alongside co-anchor Craig Melvin.
“So good to have you back,” he said.
Guthrie wore a yellow dress as Melvin wore a yellow tie in a nod to the search for her mother.
Nancy Guthrie went missing on Feb. 1, prompting her daughter and longtime NBC host to step away from the network’s flagship morning show. The nationwide search for her mother has made national headlines but so far elicited few clues about her whereabouts or fate.
Guthrie was all business at the outset, teasing stories on the war with Iran, President Donald Trump’s Easter morning social media post, rising gas prices and the Artemis II mission to space.
Once Guthrie said she was happy to be home,” NBC’s morning show did the news as usual until the 7:30 am ET hour kicked off and Guthrie noted the “love” from fans.
“Some beautiful signs out there,” Guthrie said of the crowd gathered at the plaza outside the show’s Rockefeller Center studio.
“I’m excited to see them, give them all a hug,” she continued. “I’ve been really feeling the love so much.”
SAVANNAH GUTHRIE’S EASTER MESSAGE REVEALS ANGUISH AS MOM MISSING 63 DAYS
Savannah Guthrie released an Easter message on Sunday, when she discussed her family’s agonizing struggle and the universal feeling of dealing with unanswerable questions and the absence of a clear resolution.
She said her perspective began to shift as she reflected on the period between Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, a span she described as often overlooked but central to understanding faith in moments of uncertainty.
“It is the darkness that makes this morning’s light so magnificent, so blindingly beautiful,” Guthrie said. “It is all the brighter because it is so desperately needed.”
Nancy Guthrie is believed to have been taken from her home against her will and was last seen when her son-in-law dropped her off at home around 10 p.m. the night before she went missing. In the early morning hours, a masked man was seen on her doorstep and appeared to be armed with a handgun.

At around 2:30 a.m., her pacemaker made its last sync with her Apple devices, indicating a potential timeframe for when she was taken out of the home. Her watch and iPhone were recovered inside.
A series of unverified ransom notes were sent to media outlets, including TMZ and a local Tucson station, leading many to believe the disappearance is somehow financially motivated. No suspects have been publicly identified.

Trump Demands Fox News To Take ‘Loser’ Host Off The Air
President Donald Trump, while leading the nation through critical challenges including tensions with Iran, took time on Monday night (April 6) to call out two Fox News personalities who have repeatedly pushed unfair narratives against him and his America First agenda: liberal commentator Jessica Tarlov and Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream.
In a powerful Truth Social post, President Trump demanded accountability at Fox, writing:
“For Fox executives only, take Jessica Tarlov off the air. She is, from her voice, to her lies, and everything else about her, one of the worst “personalities” on television, a real loser! People cannot stand watching her. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Tarlov, a vocal liberal strategist who regularly attacks the Trump administration on Fox News’ The Five, has long frustrated supporters of the President with her one-sided commentary. Last month, President Trump called into The Five during her absence and made his position crystal clear:
“I think your show would be better without her, but who am I to say that? I think it would be a lot better.”
Tarlov responded on X with a snarky jab, claiming:
“Was so bummed to miss the show today! But I definitely would’ve said he’s even inflating his numbers to 42%!”
President Trump also corrected Shannon Bream directly in the same post, setting the record straight on key legislation and demanding fairer hosting:
“Tell Shannon Bream of FoxNews that it’s not the Save Act, it’s the Save America Act, a big difference!
Also, when she insists on having lightweight Democrat Congressmen, such as Jake Auchincloss, on her not very hard hitting show, she should correct them when they spew out Democrat propaganda and lies. She never does! I always close deals, unlike the Dems, and did great with China in every way, also, unlike the Dems!”
President Trump is right to demand better from Fox News. For too long, certain voices on the network have platformed weak Democrat talking points without pushback, undermining the strong leadership and historic accomplishments of the Trump administration—like the record-breaking economy, secure borders, and tough negotiations with China that put America first.
While some on social media rushed to defend Tarlov and criticize the President—with comments like “[Tarlov] lives rent free in his head!” or calling him a “baby”—true patriots understand what’s really happening. President Trump is fighting for the American people every day, and he has every right to call out media figures who distort the truth, spread lies about his record, and fail to deliver balanced journalism.
This isn’t about “controlling” the media—it’s about demanding honesty. The mainstream media’s trust is at historic lows for good reason: endless fake news, biased coverage, and attacks on a President who delivered results like no one else. As White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson correctly noted, these criticisms have “nothing to do with gender” and everything to do with the fact that “the President’s and the public’s trust in the media is at all time lows.”
President Trump has always been a fighter who tells it like it is. Whether battling radical Democrats, deep state bureaucrats, or unfair media personalities, he continues to put America First—and the American people love him for it. Weak voices and liberal hacks on supposedly conservative networks won’t stop the Trump movement. The Save America agenda is winning, and no amount of sniping from the sidelines will change that.
